ATLANTA (AP) — Atlanta city officials say streetcar passengers may ride for free through the end of 2015.

Officials said in a statement that the city will conduct a review to determine the best way of integrating the Streetcar's fare system to the MARTA breeze card system. Officials say the city is also exploring a smartphone application that would include trip planning tools.

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed said in a statement that the 2.7 mile streetcar reduces congestion, pollution and dependence on cars.
