ATLANTA (AP) — The southwest Atlanta day care where a toddler was left in a vehicle for about two hours has been ordered to close down.
Multiple news outlets report The Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning issued an emergency closure order for A New Beginning Learning Center II Wednesday after a 2-year-old boy was found in a locked van Monday. The child was found alert and breathing after his mother reported him missing.
Van driver Shavonda Dailey was arrested on child cruelty charges and released from jail on bond Wednesday.
The center appealed the DECAL order and can still stay open for 48 hours pending a decision. A hearing has been scheduled for Friday morning.
