LITHONIA, Ga. (AP) — Authorities say a 10-year-old boy has been hospitalized in a shooting in suburban Atlanta.

DeKalb County police Capt. Steven Fore says the boy was found with a gunshot wound to his head at an apartment complex in Lithonia Monday afternoon.

Fore says the boy is in critical condition at a local hospital and the shooting was reported as accidental. Fore says it's unclear whether the child shot himself and detectives are investigating.

Fore says a 24-year-old relative of the boy was at home at the time and the gun has been recovered.
