A Conyers man died on the way to the hospital following a boating crash on Lake Jackson Tuesday. Authorities are still determining the cause of death.

The victim, 58-year-old Joseph L. Baker of Conyers, was in a fishing boat with David M.  Farmer, Jr., 37, of Covington when their boat collided with another boat, driven by Harry Knisell, 55, of Jackson.

Farmer was reportedly thrown out of the boat from the collision. Baker circled the boat around and was able to get Farmer back into the boat.

They managed to reach shore, but Baker developed medical complications after they reached shore and was taken to the hospital, according to Ga. Department of Natural Resources Capt. Bob Lynn.

An autopsy is being performed and a reconstruction team is investigating the crash, said Lynn.
