UPDATE: Vehicle crashes into local home after high-speed pursuit

UPDATE (Aug. 31, 12:15 p.m.): Deputy Favel Edwards, of the Newton County Sheriff's Office, confirmed the vehicle involved in a morning pursuit with Porterdale Police Department is now subject of an NCSO investigation after it was found to have collided with a house. 

Edwards told The Covington News the vehicle had collided with a house at 108 McGiboney Place. 

The driver had fled the scene by the time deputies responded. No injuries were reported at the time of the incident. Edwards said at this time, deputies are researching claims of the vehicle being reported stolen.

PORTERDALE, Ga. - Officers with the Porterdale Police Department are on the lookout for a grey Kia Optima with a dealer tag after a traffic stop turned into a high-speed pursuit early Saturday, Aug. 31. 

PPD Officer Ryan Boston was patrolling in the area of Megan Court when the Kia passed by going around 54 mph in a 35 mph zone, Chief Jason Cripps told The Covington News. Boston attempted to conduct a traffic stop, when the vehicle fled. 

Cripps described the driver as a black male with mid-length hair.
