NEWTON COUNTY – A magistrate judge has recommended that federal charges brought forth against suspended Newton County Chairman Marcello Banes and suspended District 3 Commissioner Stephanie Lindsey remain intact.In a 19-page document filed on Sept. 3, Magistrate Judge Linda T. Walker handed down the recommendation, declaring that the year-long case is now ready for trial.
