You can buy unique holiday gifts created by local artists and crafters for less than $50 at the Holiday Market at Southern Heartland Art Gallery, 1132 Monticello St. on the square downtown.

The gallery invited Georgia artists to participate with members of its art guild to display and sell the hand-made creations. Items include pottery, turned wood, fabric art, gourds, calendars, dolls, greeting cards, jewelry, musical instruments from the north Georgia mountains, and small paintings and frames.

The market runs through Dec. 23.

The gallery has also extended the deadline for its Octoberfest Auction. Items available are an artistically painted and embellished guitar, donated by the Gretsch Foundation, and five gallery-made and painted table tops.

Southern Heartland Arts, Inc. is a nonprofit organization supporting the visual arts. Auction proceeds benefit its instructional fund.
