An evening abroad: United Bank and Air Conditioning Specialists sponsored Southern Heartland Art Gallery’s annual fundraiser, Monte Carlo for the Arts Saturday at the Porterdale Mill. After a dinner of prime rib catered by Stalvey’s Restaurant, attendees enjoyed Monte Carlo-style gaming. More than 150 people played blackjack, Texas hold ‘em poker, craps and roulette. The evening culminated with a live auction, silent auction and a raffle that used the winnings of the play money won in gambling. More than 100 prizes, auction items and art pieces were awarded. Susan Adams and Susan Wahl, co-chairs of the event that raises funds for the guild’s art education and scholarships, stated that this year’s Monte Carlo for the Arts exceeded their expectations. Both women wished to thank their sponsors for supporting SHAG programs.
