Due to inclement weather sweeping through the region this weekend, local high school contests scheduled for Friday have been postponed.

In baseball action, the Newton Rams and Rockdale County Bulldogs Region 2-AAAAAA contest has been postponed. The Rams and Bulldogs will play at a later date.

Eastside's home contest against Lanier was also postponed Friday. Eastside fell to the Longhorns earlier in the week 7-2, but will have to wait to seek payback against Lanier. A make-up date has yet to be set.

The Alcovy baseball team's regularly scheduled contest against Morrow was also postponed. The game has been moved to April 14. The Tigers' junior varsity game against Franklin County on Saturday has also been postponed. The game will be played April 5.

In soccer action, the Rams and the Tigers were both set to host region contests, but the games were postponed due to poor field conditions.

Just like on the diamond, the Rams were set to square off against the Bulldogs on the soccer field in their second meeting of the year. Rockdale swept the Rams earlier this season, beating the Newton girls' team 3-2 while the Newton boys' team dropped a 4-2 contest to the Bulldogs.

Alcovy was prepared to play visiting Druid Hills Friday night, but the Tigers contest against the Red Devils will be moved to a later date.

Soccer make-up dates have yet to be set.
