Social Circle Redskins earn first place finishes at Region 5A-Division I meet

MONTICELLO, Ga. — The Social Circle track and field team competed at the Region 5A-Division I meet at Jasper County High School on Thursday, April 25.

By meet’s end, multiple members of the Redskins team earned first palace finishes and spots at sectionals.


Girls Team


For the Lady Redskins, their top finishes came from Jada Hyman.

Hyman took home first place in the 200 and 400-meter dashes with times of 25.48 and 59.58, respectively.

In the 400-meter dash, Brielle Price followed Hyman in fourth place with a time of 1:02.73.

Price also claimed fourth place in the girls’ high jump with a distance of 31-2.

Sophia Fontenot, Zion Robinson and Zikerra Stewart claimed third, fourth and fifth place in the 100-meter dash, respectively. 

Fontenot’s time in third place for the 100-meter dash was 12.89 seconds.

In the 1600 and 3200-meter runs, Abby Nunary came away with a fifth place finish in both events.

Nunary finished the 1600-meter run with a time of 6:57.74 while she finished the 3200-meter run with a time of 17:08.85.

Maloni Hundley claimed a fourth place finish in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.82.

In the relay events, Social Circle took home a trio of top three finishes.

The Lady Redskins relay team earned third place finishes in the 4x100 and 4x400 with times of 52.36 and 4:47.74, respectively. Their best placement came in the 4x200, where they finished in second with a time of 1:46.25.

In the girls’ shot put, Z’Kiya Stewart led the way for Social Circle in fifth place with a distance of 27-10.


Boys Team


The Social Circle boys’ track and field team had a pair of first place finishes on Thursday.

The first came from Cornelius CJ Scott, who claimed first place in the 400-meter dash with time of 50.29.

The second came from the boy’s relay team that finished first in the 4x200 meter relay with a time of 1:30.97.

In the 4x100 meter relay, the team claimed second with a time of 44.12, while they eaned third in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:49.40.

Jaylen Victor, Deven Usand and Kam Durden claimed third, fourth and fifth place in the 100-meter dash, respectively.

In the 200-meter dash, Antonio Bailey claimed second place with a time of 23.01.

In the 800-meter run, Simeon Gibbs earned fifth place with a time of 2:15.40.

Levi Wall earned a fourth place finish in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:15.89.

In the boy’s triple jump, Usand claimed fourth place with a distance of 40-2.5. Kayden Fears followed in sixth place with a distance of 35-0.25.

Jacorious Cory Moore earned fifth place in the discus with a distance of 104-1.

In the 110-meter hurdles, Taven Branch earned a fifth place finish with a time of 20.06.
