The Social Circle High School wrestling team continued its streak of victories at the Granite City Duals in Elberton, extending its team record to 13-1.

The Redskins went 4-0 at the event, defeating Bremen in the event’s championship final.

Social Circle and Bremen finished first and second, respectively, while Elbert County, Jackson County, Chestatee, Morgan County, Madison County, Cross Creek and George Walton Academy rounded out the tournament’s finishers.
The Redskins posted wins over Cross Creek High School 76-3, Morgan County 53-12, Elbert County 54-25 and Bremen 37-24.

“Beating Bremen is huge for Social Circle, whether it was in 1A or 2A, Bremen is always in the hunt for the state championship,” Social Circle head coach Randy Prater said. “The seniors and juniors on our team have lost to Bremen in the last two years at the GHSA Team State tournament, so this was a very sweet victory. I am very proud about how we wrestled, but we still have some things we need to work on before Area.”

Individual wins came from 20 different Redskins, including: 106 Josh Craig, 113 Trey Paschal, 120 Stevie Howard, 126 Mitchel Clegg, 132 Ryan Davis, 132 Dawson Queen, 138 Cade Lackey, 138 A.J. Howard, 145 David Engstrom, 145 Chase Stevens, 152 Aaron Forrester, 152 Jacob Noth, 160 Justin Givens, 160 Josh Tyson, 170 Jeremy Tyson, 182 Ryan Davis, 195 Jimmy Haynes, 220 Tevin Burke, 220 Luke Hamby, 285 Eric Wilson and 285 Joseph Eidison.

The tournament victory was the fourth for the Redskins this season. Social Circle has placed first in all but one tournament this season after finishing third overall at the Parkview Tournament earlier this year.

The Redskins return to action today at the Area 4 Class AA Duals hosted by Jefferson.
