The Newton boys' basketball team is hosting its second annual Rams Summer Youth Basketball Mini Camp next week.

The camp, led by Newton Coach Rick Rasmussen and his staff with assistance from Newton players, runs June 18-20 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., and is open to all rising third-eighth grades boys basketball players.

The cost has been recently reduced to $30 per camper.

Participants do not have to be zoned for NHS to attend.

Players will be grouped with players of similar age and skill level.

The camp will teach both individual skill development and 5-on-5 team play, along with rules and fundamentals, such as conditioning, dribbling, passing, shooting, footwork, rebounding, screening, floor spacing and the basic principles of team offense and defense.

An application form can be found at http://www.newtoncountyschools.org/newtonhigh/basketball_youth_mini_camp_flyer_2012.pdf.
