COVINGTON, Ga. — Fresh off a commitment to his dream school Kentucky, Ashton Hagans is still racking up postseason accolades.
The 6-foot-4 five-star point guard from Newton was recently named to the 2017-18 MaxPreps Boys Basketball Junior All-American Team. A first team selection, Hagans is the only player from Georgia to adorn the national roster.
After scoring 20.7 points per contest as a junior, along with 10.7 assists and 7.7 rebounds, Hagans helped push the Rams to a 27-4 record overall, back-to-back Region 8-AAAAAAA titles and a Class AAAAAAA semifinals appearance.
Hagans gave his verbal commitment to Kentucky Monday, and said there’s a “50-50 chance” of him reclassifying to 2018 so he can leave high school early and start his collegiate career at Kentucky next season.
Hagans has won other prestigious local and national awards as well, including the Gatorade Georgia boys basketball Player of the Year award and the Atlanta Tip-Off Club’s Mr. Georgia Basketball recognition.
