GETTING TO THE GAME: Fans should plan ahead to catch GHSA state championship games
Newton Celebrates
The Newton Lady Rams celebrate after coming back from an 18-point deficit to knock off 4-time defending state champion McEachern. They'll be part of a tough state championship ticket at McCamish Pavilion on Saturday.

COVINGTON, Ga. -- If you’re planning on going to see the Newton Lady Rams play for its first Georgia High School Association state championship this Saturday, waiting until the last minute to plan your trip probably won’t be a good idea.

State championship games began Wednesday and Thursday at the Macon Centreplex and will culminate Friday and Saturday, March 9-10 at Georgia Tech’s McCamish Pavilion in downtown Atlanta.

Newton’s Class AAAAAAA state championship game with Westlake is slated for a 6 p.m. tip-off on Saturday. But that start time could be delayed, depending on how long the two previous games before Newton’s last.

Last year, state championship crowds were estimated to be close to 9,000. This year, pre-event parking at McCamish has already been sold out. Fans’ best bet to catch the Lady Rams in action is to probably get there in time for one of the earlier games.

Here’s all the information you need to know in order to take in Saturday’s state championship action, including Saturday’s game schedule, and ticket and television broadcasting information:
