COMMERCE, Ga. — For another year, the Eastside Eagles left the state meet with a state champion.
Eastside competed in the Class AAAA track and field championships at East Jackson High School, and the team posted quality results overall.
By the end of the meet, junior Kendall Bryant took home the honor of state champion.
Bryant claimed first place in the boys’ long jump with a score of 23-6.5 — the top placement, but also a personal record for the junior.
The finalists did not stop there.
After multiple events with quality finishes, both Jonas Davis and Kamarra Trisch finished as state runner-ups.
Davis claimed second place in the boys’ 200-meter with a time of 22.06. Davis also earned second in the boys’ 400-meter with a time of 48.54.
Trisch earned second place in the girls’ 400-meter with a time of 56.41.
The Lady Eagles relay team took home ninth place in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:09.82.
