RCA tackles real-world design

Rockdale Career Academy graphic arts students helped shape the look of the new Hands Across Rockdale day of service initiative by designing the t-shirt logo.

RCA graphic arts instructor Rick Nelson's third year students were given some parameters for the project and set free to brainstorm a variety of characters, looks, and themes for the logo to represent the can-do, local volunteer spirit of the HAR initiative (see page 3).

Korby Bohannon, a junior and third year graphic design student, said "We all decided our own thing for our designs. Most of us went with the option of animals you could find in the area."

Andres Escavera, a senior, said, "I tried to look for a friendly mascot that could be used in a group idea."
The class will continue finalizing their project, moving the sketched rough draft ideas into the computer to produce a final product.
