Lottie Johnson Bowers, age 93 of Covington, died Friday, July 15, 2011.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Edward Bowers.  Mrs. Bowers is survived by son, Richard Steven Bowers, Panama City, FL; daughter, Jo Anne Bowers Chew, Conyers; grandchildren, Ginger Chew, Robyn Chew, Amber Chew, Heather Bowers, Benjamin Bowers; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Myrtle Weese, Charlotte, NC, Geraldine Wilson, Plant City, FL, Betty Ethridge, Stockbridge and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was a retired educator and former long-term employee of Sears Roebuck & Co.  Mrs. Bowers was an avid gardener and a loving neighbor, friend, sister, mother and wife.  She filled the role of grandmother not only to her grandchildren, but children everywhere.  Funeral services will be held Monday, July 18, 2011 at Scot Ward Funeral Services at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. David Collins officiating; interment will follow at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Bowers was a member of Philadelphia United Methodist Church, 2194 W. Hightower Tr., Conyers, GA 30012 and would prefer donations be made to the church in lieu of flowers.
