A sharp-eyed, persistent witness helped foil a potential crime in progress and led to the arrest of two would-be burglars. Deputies are still looking for the get-away driver.

Detronte Elliott, 18, of Lithonia and Tyone Elliott, 19, of Conyers were charged with Burglary and are being held in the Rockdale County jail.

Tyone was a former Salem High student, homecoming court member, and football player who starred as a safety for the Salem Seminoles from 2007-10. In February he signed a letter of intent to play for North Dakota State College of Science.

The witness was driving through a neighborhood Monday morning when he noticed two suspicious men standing in front of a neighbor's house.

According to RCSO Investigator Michael Camp, the good Samaritan noticed that a vehicle seemed out of place across the street from the house on Brandon Lane in the Cambridge Creek subdivision.

As he turned to check on the vehicle, he saw two men standing in front of the house before they proceeded to kick in the front door.

He asked them what they were doing. The two suspects jumped into a vehicle, which drove away.

He called 911 and followed the suspects until two men jumped out of the vehicle and ran through a subdivision on Hurst Road near the DeKalb County line. The driver of the vehicle kept going while the two suspects, later identified as Detronte Jarrod Elliott and Tyone Bernard Elliott, ran for it.

After RCSO set up a perimeter and deployed a K-9 unit, according to Camp, the Elliott brothers were
spotted "walking along the edge of the woods."

They were arrested without incident.

The driver of the vehicle has not yet been identified.
