Dr. William A. Futch of Plantation Village, Porters Neck Road, Wilmington, NC died Sunday Oct. 17.
Dr. Futch was born at Topsail, NC Nov. 3, 1925 to the late James A. Futch and Eddie Mae Futch Coston. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Noble Sellers Futch and two sisters, Mary Futch Henderson and Wilma Futch Lee. He is survived by a son, David Futch and daughter, Bronwin Futch Clark, and two grandchildren, Alexandra Futch and James P. Clark, Jr. all of Conyers, Georgia. He is also survived by two sisters, Joyce Smith and Frances Jernigan, both of Wilmington.

Dr. Futch did his undergraduate work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received his medical degree from New York Medical College, New York City, NY. He did residences in Pediatrics and Anesthesiology, but spent most of his medical career in family practice, the last 32 years in Conyers, Georgia. He retired in 1996, following the death of his wife, and spent most of his time visiting friends and traveling.

A graveside service was held at 10 a.m.Wednesday, Oct. 20, at the Nixon Family Cemetery on the Olde Pointe Golf Course, Hampstead, NC. The Reverend Owen Carriker officiated. Memorial contributions may be made to one's favorite charity.
