Mr. Wilbur Leslie Mote Jr. of Covington died Jan. 21 at Newton Medical Center. Born in Covington in 1921, he was the son of the late Wilbur L. Mote Sr. and Lois Cowan Mote. He was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church for many years, serving in the capacity of Deacon and Elder. He wrote a history of Bethany Presbyterian Church. He served in the Army/Air Force with the 5th Reconnaissance Squadron during World War II in the Philippines.

Mr. Mote was married to Doris Hicks Mote for 50 years, who survives. Other survivors include his sister Carolyn Mote Starr of Covington; brother Ray H. Mote of Covington. He was preceded in death by his brother: Cecil Mote.

Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 22, at Bethany Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. William C. Wade officiating. Eulogy was given by Bob King. Interment was in Bethany Presbyterian Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the building fund at Bethany Presbyterian Church.
