Mr. Steve Austin, age 69, of Covington passed away August 27, 2015 in Shelbyville, Tennessee. He was born June 3, 1946 in Covington to the late Walter Thomas “Bill” and Dura Edwards Austin. Steve retired from Hercules in Covington and was a member of Stewart Community Church. He had a passion for Tennessee Walking Horses, a passion that he shared with his wife Sandra Austin who preceded him in death in 2013. Steve was attending the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration in Shelbyville when he passed away Thursday evening. He was a kind man with a Christian heart. Steve will be missed on Tuesday mornings at the Waffle House where he would meet weekly with fellow retirees from Hercules. Steve loved to watch old westerns on television, reading his bible, eating and fellowship with others.

Mr. Austin is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Penney Griffin of Nesbit, MS; his sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Charles Stewart; his brothers and sister-in-law, Walter T. “Billy” and Brenda Austin and Darrell “Kim” Austin; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family and close friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Austin were held at 11 o’clock, Monday, August 31, 2015 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Reverend Jason Johnson officiating. Interment followed at Covington City Cemetery. The family received friends from 2pm until 4pm on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at the funeral home. J.C.
