Pearlie Gene Durden of Covington, passed away peacefully at her home, October 12, 2010, at the age of 73. She enjoyed listening to country music, traveling to Florida, shopping, eating catfish at Neely’s, and loved watching wrestling and the Atlanta Braves. Mrs. Durden was known as “Granny” by all, and looked after everybody. She loved her dogs and cats, but most important to her was her family – especially her grandchildren. Mrs. Durden was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Durden; daughter, Debbie Lunsford; son, Johnny Eugene Durden; and her parents, Henry and Mary M. (Hardiman) Tant. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce Lemonds and James Cobb, Michelle Durden and Brian Rando, all of Covington; son and daughter-in-law, Michael R. and Annette Durden of Covington; fiancé, Cecil Freeman of Covington; sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda and James Whitney of South Carolina, Linda and Danny Boss of Oxford, GA, Ann Tant of Florida; brothers, Tony Tant, Ricky Tant, both of South Carolina; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral Services for Mrs. Durden will be held Friday, October 15, 2010, 4:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 3134 Floyd Street, with Rev. Joe Brock officiating, and interment following in Covington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Thursday, October 14, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM.
