Ms. Molly Ann Pannell, 86, of Mansfield, passed away on Dec. 25. Ms. Pannell was a life-long resident of Newton County. She enjoyed building her career and she worked for Bailey Martin and Fay Insurance Company as an executive vice president for 40 years. She ended her career working as the school nurse at East Newton Elementary School, and tutoring children at Fairview Elementary. She had a giving and loving heart and due to the loss of her brothers, she became both mother and father in raising her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed gardening and traveling for business and pleasure. Ms. Pannell was preceded in death by her parents Hugh A. and Tinnie O. Pannell; brothers Lewis A. Pannell and Hugh W. Pannell Sr.
Survivors include her nephew Hugh and Pallie Pannell of Mansfield; nieces Connie and Robert Warren, Peggy and Johnny Capes, and Cheryl and James Knight, all of Covington; five great-nieces; four great-nephews; three great-great-nieces; and seven great-great nephews.
Funeral services for Ms. Pannell will be held at 1 p.m. tomorrow, Dec. 29, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 3134 Floyd Street, in Covington, with Dr. Thomas Binford officiating, and interment following in Social Circle City Cemetery, in Social Circle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, today, Dec. 28, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
