Mr. James Perry Atkinson, 65, of Madison, died Jan. 12 at his home. The son of the late Herman and Louise Jones Atkinson, he was born in Morgan County in 1943. Mr. Atkinson served in the United States Navy and later worked in sales of construction supplies. Mr. Atkinson was currently employed by Hallman Wood Products in Eatonton. Mr. Atkinson enjoyed fishing and wood working and restoring antique tractors.
Surviving are his wife Esther Mullins Atkinson; children Jill Page (Wade), David Atkinson (Brandy), Nathan Atkinson and Reuben Atkinson; step children Charlie Brown (Melissa), Audrey Clay (John) and Jeffery Brown; sisters Sylvia Conner (Charles) and Gloria Stapp (William); brothers, Ronald Atkinson (Florie) and Donald Atkinson (Karen). Mr. Atkinson also had seven grandchildren, and a great grandchild.
The funeral service for Mr. Atkinson was held January 15. Burial was at Brownwood Church Cemetery.
