Helen N. Sorrow of Covington passed away on January 1, 2016, at the age of 85. She was the wife of Reverend John L. Sorrow, retired minister in the North Georgia United Methodist Conference. Mrs. Sorrow attended the University of Georgia and taught school for a number of years. She loved children and was a gifted Sunday school teacher. She was also a talented writer and lived a life that was reflective of the creed she authored:

My Creed

To hold the truth in reverence, humility, and honor.

To accept what life gives me without envy, self-pity, or rancor.

To do what I can to help others- not for thanks, attention, or personal gain.

Mrs. Sorrow is survived by her husband John, daughter Lynne, son Mark, four grandchildren, one great grandchild, one sister and three brothers.

Dr. Shirley Jackson will preside over the private family graveside service to be held on January 9, 2016 at Prospect United Methodist Church. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to a local church of the honoree’s choice.

The family is grateful to the New Century Hospice for its long term care of Mrs. Sorrow in her prolonged illness.
