Mrs. Allene Gunnells Floyd, 86, of Covington, passed away Dec. 26. Mrs. Floyd was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 32, of Covington. She retired as secretary, from Colony Realty Company, after 30 years of dedicated service. In addition, she was a secretary for the law firm of King, Ballard & King. Mrs. Floyd was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting in her younger years, but her real hobby was her family. She loved her family dearly, and especially enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren. Mrs. Floyd was preceded in death by her husband Chief Rodney T. Floyd; daughter Debra Jo Floyd; and her parents Clarence Jewel and Ruth Iona (Burnett) Gunnells.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Don T. and Marcia Elizer Floyd of Covington; grandsons Michael S. and Stephanie Floyd of Cedar Park, Texas; Thomas M. Floyd of Covington; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Emma and Sarah.

A memorial service for Mrs. Floyd will be held Wednesday, Jan. 2, at 2 p.m., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, with Rev. Jan McCoy officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following her service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covington First United Methodist Church, Pastor's Fund, 1113 Conyers Street SW, Covington, GA 30014; or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memorial Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
