COVINGTON, Ga. – A dispute about how her change was handed back led a woman to throw a cup full of soft drink at a Waffle House employee Sunday morning, authorities said.

According to a Newton County Sheriff’s Office incident report, a deputy was dispatched to the restaurant at 13091 Brown Bridge Road just before 9 a.m. Jan. 13 on a report that a woman was being disorderly and had thrown a soda cup at an employee.

The woman was gone when law enforcement arrived. A NCSO spokesman said the employee had placed the suspect’s change on the counter and she got mad that it wasn’t placed in her hand.

According to the report, the suspect and a male she was with left the scene in a 2018 Nissan Sentra. The spokesman said she could face a simple battery charge if she is found.

The case is under investigation.
