Former Covington resident Randy Durden has recently been awarded the Million Mile Award by U.S. Express. The award recognizes drivers who complete over one million miles of driving without having an accident on their records.
Durden is currently on a designated run to California, which brings him back and forth to the state each week. He is accompanied on his journeys by his wife Melinda, who is also a truck driver. The two have two sons, Adam and Jason, and four grandchildren.
Durden, who now lives in Jasper County, grew up in Covington. He is the son of Betty Brown and step-father Doug Brown, and father Bill Durden. Bill father drove a truck for over 33 years, and was his inspiration for becoming a truck driver.
Durden his driven for U.S. Express for 11 years, having graduated truck driving school from Mobile Chemical.
