DECATUR, Ga. - Authorities say a 4-year-old child strapped into a car seat was wounded by a bullet in a case of road rage in metro Atlanta.

WSB-TV reports that the shooting happened around 4:20 p.m. Tuesday near Redan and Martin roads in DeKalb County.

Police say the driver of a Dodge Durango, after being cut off by the car that carried the toddler, began tailgating the vehicle.

Authorities say the driver with the child pulled over to let the Durango pass, and that's when the gunman fired one shot into the vehicle.

Police said the bullet struck the child in the buttocks.

The toddler was taken to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston with non-life-threatening injuries.
