BRUNSWICK, Ga. (AP) — Officials say they're planning increased security measures at a south Georgia federal building, one of several identified nationwide as needing improvements.

The Brunswick News reports (http://bit.ly/IB7qzl) that city and federal employees are planning changes at the Frank M. Scarlett Federal Building in Brunswick. Officials say the changes will include a high fence and gated entry portal.

U.S. Marshall Chief Deputy Tom Morefield told the Brunswick City Commission Wednesday that other measures could include closing Egmont Street to traffic in the block of the federal courthouse.

Morefield said a recent government study ranked the building among 10 percent of federal courthouse buildings that need security upgrades.

The building houses the Postal Service, U.S. District Court and federal agencies.
