PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. (AP) - Police say a 6-year-old Georgia girl is dead after she was shot in the throat with a pellet gun.

Peachtree City police say the shooting happened Friday afternoon at the girl's home in metro Atlanta. They say the girl was in very critical condition when emergency responders arrived and rushed her to Piedmont Fayette Hospital, where she died.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports (http://bit.ly/Ap8lSg ) that police are calling the death "an unfortunate accident." Peachtree City police have not released the girl's name or further details about the shooting.
