DECATUR, Ga. (AP) — DeKalb County police say a woman lied to them about a home invasion in which her 6-year-old daughter was supposedly assaulted.

Police Capt. Steven Fore told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution evidence at the woman's home didn't match what she told investigators Wednesday night.

Authorities have said the woman told police that a group of armed, masked men stormed her south DeKalb County home, assaulted her disabled daughter and stole Christmas presents and the girl's medication.

Fore says authorities are unsure of why the woman made the story up, and investigators are trying to determine if she has any relatives who can temporarily care for her daughter.

Charges haven't yet been filed.

Earlier this week, a Fulton County woman accused of lying to police about her daughter being missing was arrested.
