A Fulton County prosecutor says a man has pleaded guilty to using a dead dog to beat his girlfriend.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (http://bit.ly/MTHbqp ) reports that Emmanuel Alfredo Tadeo pleaded guilty Thursday to the attack of Andrea Jill Armintrout on May 19. He was charged with aggravated assault, felony aggravated animal cruelty, misdemeanor animal cruelty and battery.

Tadeo's sentencing date hasn't been determined.

The incident occurred in Armintrout's condominium apartment in Sandy Springs.

Authorities say a Pomeranian dog rushed to the defense of its owner, Armintrout, who was being beaten by Tadeo. Authorities say Tadeo snapped the dog's neck and used the dead animal to beat the woman more.

Tadeo was re-arrested July 13 after prosecutors upgraded the charges and felonies. He is being held without bond in Fulton County Jail.
