MARIETTA - Authorities say a woman who has been living at a homeless shelter is accused of having a stolen license plate on her BMW car.

Cobb County police say Giovanni Nikki Compton told them she has been living at MUST Ministries, a shelter in Marietta.

An arrest warrant states that Compton told police she borrowed the tag because she couldn't afford one. Authorities say that when officers stopped Compton July 22, the tag was on her 1998 BMW 328I.

The warrant says the license plate is registered to a Honda Accord.

Kaye Cagle, director of marketing for MUST Ministries, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Compton has been staying at the MUST Ministries shelter for seven weeks.

Compton faces a theft charge. Jail records do not indicate whether she has an attorney.
