ATLANTA (AP) - An Atlanta police officer and a child are being treated at Grady Memorial Hospital after a tow truck being pursued by police chase struck a house.

Police say an officer tried to pull over the tow truck because it was towing a pickup truck that was improperly secured.

WSB-TV reports (http://bit.ly/osXb5R) Atlanta police Capt. Van Hobbs says the driver refused to stop and a chase ensued. Hobbs says the truck became detached from the wrecker in southeast Atlanta and hit the patrol car, knocking it into a fence.

Hobbs says the tow truck driver jumped out of his moving truck, which hit two houses, injuring a 12-year-old girl.

Police say the tow truck driver has been arrested. The conditions of the officer and the child aren't known.
