ATLANTA (AP) — Country music artist Alan Jackson will headline the Jan. 15 Inaugural Gala as part of the kickoff to Gov. Nathan Deal's second term in office.

Deal says the Newnan native will perform at the Arena at Gwinnett Center along with two other bands that have Georgia roots and ties to Deal.

A member of The Brody Johnson Band formerly worked as a congressional aide for Deal, and the father of a GOP staffer who died this fall is a member of Banks and Shane.

Events earlier in the week include prayer gatherings, volunteer opportunities and a ceremony planned to be the first held at Liberty Plaza. The project still is under construction near the state Capitol in downtown Atlanta.
