DECATUR, Ga. (AP) — Authorities say a man walking his dog heard gunshots and then found a body near an abandoned school outside Atlanta.

Police said the man told detectives he heard a couple of shots during the overnight hours Thursday. A short time later, he noticed the body in a street near the Atherton Elementary School building in DeKalb County. The school closed in 2011.

WSB-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1OUkAvq) that crime scene technicians early Thursday were searching for evidence.
