The headless horseman rode into town last week, as the cast and crew of Fox’s Sleepy Hollow began shooting season three in Rockdale County. The production team has been filming around the community in several different locations, including at a private residence on Main Street and in Olde Towne Conyers. Next week, they will film at some private residences near Ebeneezer Road and GA State Route 212.

According to Gina Hartsell, camera ready film liaison for the Conyers-Rockdale Economic Development Council, there is a large fan base for the show. “This is the first time I’ve had people come up to me [during production] to say ‘we really love the show’.”

The production company is leasing two warehouses near Sigman Road, though a lot of the actual filming is shot outside.
The season premiere of Sleepy Hollow is scheduled for Oct. 1.

Jennifer Gardner was in Rockdale County last week, filming scenes at Rockdale Medical Center for the upcoming Sony Entertainment film, Miracles from Heaven. Based on the book, Three Miracles From Heaven, by Christy Beam, the film tells the story of a young girl suffering from a rare digestive disorder who finds herself miraculously cured after surviving a terrible accident.

Though filming in Rockdale County wrapped up last week, scenes are still be shot in and around Atlanta, including at the airport and the Georgia Aquarium. The movie is slated to be released on March 18, 2016.

The HBO mini-series, Lewis and Clark, has begun filming in Canada and the Pacific Northwest this summer, but a skeleton crew is already on site in Rockdale County, preparing for a September shoot, Hartsell said. The six hour series, produced by Tom Hanks, Edward Norton and Brad Pitt, tells the story of the Corps of Discovery’s expedition across North America to the Pacific Ocean. The film stars Casey Affleck as Meriwether Lewis and Mattias Schoenaerts as William Clark.

Filming in Olde Towne Conyers of The Originals took place last week, with most of the work done at night. Hartsell said it’s possible the production will return to shoot more scenes in Olde Towne in the next three weeks.
