Man arrested for drive-by shooting

Newton County officers responded to a call of a possible shooting. Newton County Dispatch told the responding officer that someone was driving by shooting on Brown Road.

The caller told dispatch that he heard seven to 10 gun shots and saw the vehicle leave the scene.

When the officer arrived, Scottie and Lucy Reid provided a description of the vehicle and the suspect. The front glass door was shattered consistent with a ballistic impact.

Sadarrius Shepherd was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, reckless conduct and pointing a gun at another.

Juvenile accidentally fires gun
When Newton County officers arrived at the scene of a trauma, Keatrica Montford told the officer that she had been watching her nephew.

While she was in another room, she heard a loud noise. When she ran into the room, her nephew had blood over his eye.

The officer observed a bullet hole in the mirror and an empty shell casing to the side. The officer looked behind the mirror and saw that the bullet hole was also in the window.

Another adult at the residence Andreco Bowles, told the officer he left the gun loaded under the left side of the bed for protection.
