The son of a prominent Social Circle family has died.

Lurie Maddox Jr. was pronounced dead at his parents’ home on Wildflower Drive Thursday, August 7, according to Social Circle Police Chief Terry Sosebee. He was 26 years old.

Maddox Jr. had apparently been under medical care and had been in the hospital as of Wednesday, August 6.

His father, Lurie Maddox Sr., is a long-time civil rights activist in Social Circle, and his sister, Angela Porter, is a member of the Social Circle City Council.
