SPRING COLLEGE GRADUATES

Nicholas DeCarlo of Covington graduated received a Bachelor of Science from Anderson University in Anderson, S.C., during commencement exercises on May 2.
Anderson University is a liberal arts-based, comprehensive university affiliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention. The University was named to the top tier of comprehensive colleges in the South by U.S, News and World Report for 2009 and was selected as one of America's 136 Best Colleges by The Princeton Review. Located in the Upstate region of South Carolina near the foothills of the Appalachians, Anderson University features a rigorous education in a supportive Christian environment
Joshua Jermaine Williams of Covington graduated from Truett-McConnell College, Cleveland in the school's sixty-first annual commencement on May 9 receiving an associate in science degree.

Layne Conley, of Covington, was among the 201 students who graduated from Reinhardt College spring semester of 2009.
Layne received a Bachelor of Music Education.


Among the 429 students receiving degrees from Piedmont College at the recent May commencement ceremonies were four Newton County residents. They are Joanna Lyons Anglin, Education Specialist; Brittany Carithers, Bachelor of Arts in early childhood education with highest honors; and Jason Edward Price, Ed.S. Susan Helton of Oxford earned a Master of Arts in early childhood education.
Piedmont College is an independent liberal arts college of about 2,000 students with campuses located in Demorest and Athens. Founded in 1897, the college offers undergraduate degrees in 32 major areas, master's degrees in education and business, and a doctorate degree in education.


Atlanta Christian College announces that Robert Brandon Daniel of Covington graduated magna cum laude May 26 with a Bachelor of Science in biblical studies.

Graduation ceremonies for Athens Technical College were held June 11 at the Classic Center in Athens. The following residents of Newton County earned their associate of applied science degrees: Tessa Noel Cook, Covington, Paralegal Studies; and Leslie Daronne Garrett, Mansfield, Radiography.
The following Newton County residents graduated from diploma programs of study: Darrell Andrew Chambers, Covington, Automotive Collision Repair with Collision Repair and Paint and Refinishing Specializations, Dean's Scholar; and Mandy Nichole Florence, Covington, Dental Assisting.
Students who graduate with a graduation grade point average of between 3.50 and 3.74 are designated as dean's scholars.

VALDOSTA STATE COLLEGE

The following area students are Spring 2009 graduates of Valdosta State University in Valdosta: Courtnee Shardae Hawkins of Covington, Bachelor of General Studies; Jennifer Paige Myers of Covington, Bachelor of Fine Arts -- Mass Media; and Ashlee Tianece Walker of Covington, Bachelor of Fine Arts -- Speech Communication.

Ann-Marie Pope from Covington earned a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Modern Languages from Georgia Southern University. She graduated this spring.
