Newton County School System officials, Newton High administrators, students, and members of the community gathered at Newton High School Sunday afternoon to celebrate its new building.

A dedication ceremony was held, during which the architects and contractors for the school building, board members and the community were recognized for their efforts in the building process of the new facility.

NCSS superintendent Samantha Fuhrey thanked the community for its “tremendous support” as she welcomed guests to the event, and Board of Education Chair Abigail Coggin recognized special guests in attendance, who included representatives from Cunningham, Forehand, Matthews and Moore, Architects; McKnight Contractors; and local officials.
Craig Lockhart, NCSS deputy superintendent who previously served as principal of the high school, gave the keynote address at the ceremony.
