OXFORD, Ga. — First-year students in the Discovery Seminar "Inequality: Friend or Foe?" led by Jasminka Ninkovic, associate professor of economics, were the prize winners of a friendly competition between the 30 fall semester Discovery Seminar course cohorts for the largest percentage of registered voters as part of the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge.

Ninkovic's class had 100% registration/participation rate and were awarded $200 and given the choice of what to do with the funds. Rather than a pizza party or other type of class celebration or outing, the 16 students voted to donate the funds to Covington First United Methodist Church's food pantry program. Oxford College students serve at the food pantry regularly through Oxford Service Corps, Volunteer Oxford and Theory-Practice Service Learning courses.
