The Academy of Liberal Arts at Newton High School, in association with Girl Scout Brownie Troop 11556 and the Newton High School Marine Corp Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp collected donations of Girl Scout Cookies and other necessities to be sent to our troops serving abroad. The care packages will include cookies, handmade cards from the Brownies, letters from the Newton High School Marine Corps Junior Rerserve Officer Training Corp, chap stick, sun block, energy bars and a variety of other toiletries.

On March 24, representatives from the Brownie Troop, the Academy of Liberal Arts, Newton High School, and the Marine Corps were at Newton High School for the official exchange. Representing Brownie Troop 11556 was Isabelle Nesmith, Sadie Sheppard, Sydney Fowler, and Nicole Mathews. Representing the Academy of Liberal Arts at Newton HS was Ali Punjani. Dr. Craig Lockhart, Principal at Newton High School was present, as well as CWO4 Rawley Colemon and Gunnery Sergeant Sherman Smith.
