Due to unexpected delays regarding state approval for the locations of two sites for the Ombudsman alternative education program, Ombudsman will temporarily be housed temporarily in the former Sharp Learning Center building. As such, middle and high school students assigned to Ombudsman will attend classes there beginning on August 4, 2011.

Newton County School System will provide bus transportation for the Ombudsman students to Sharp Learning Center. Parents have been notified of the change in location.

High school students assigned to the first session at both Newton East Ombudsman and Newton West Ombudsman will attend classes at Sharp from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM; high school students assigned to the third session will attend classes at Sharp from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. All middle school students assigned to Ombudsman will attend classes at Sharp from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Ombudsman is to ensure the new centers meet all state and local requirements and can open as soon as possible. No projected opening date is available at this time.
