All Newton County public schools will be closed on Friday, October 9 for a studentholiday/teacher furlough day. The following week, October 12-16, schools will be closed for fall Break. The Newton County School System central office located on Newton Drive will be open during the hours of 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Students will report back to school on Monday, October 19 and report cards will be distributed on Friday, October 23. The next scheduled break for students will begin with an early dismissal day on November 20, 2009, for district-wide professional learning. All schools and the central office will be closed the following week, November 23-27, for the Thanksgiving Holiday. 

The first semester of the 2009-2010 school year will end for students on Friday, December 18, 2009 and students will not report back to school until January 5, 2010.The Newton County School System 2009-2010 school calendar is posted online at www.newtoncountyschools.org.
