COVINGTON, Ga. - The Newton County Retired Educators Association recognized two scholarship recipients Aug. 2 during one of its regularly scheduled meetings.
The scholarship applications were available through each of the Newton County School System high schools and included each applicant’s written essay identifying his or her own future goals. NCREA President Dr. Sallie Mills, presented a check to Kelsie Sapp, a recent Alcovy High School graduate, who will be attending the University of Georgia. Also recognized at the meeting was Jasmine Graham, a graduate of Newton High School, who will be attending Fort Valley State University.
The Newton County Retired Educators Association meets at 11 a.m. the first Thursday of every month at the First Baptist Church of Covington. All retired teachers retiring from or living in the Newton County area are invited to attend and become a member.
