COVINGTON, Ga. - The Montessori School of Covington’s Lower Elementary Class wanted to participate in a community service project this year. They chose to have a Read-a-thon to raise funds for the Newton County Library.
The Lower Elementary classroom has a beautiful library with many interesting books. The children wanted each child in our community to have the same access to books that are good quality and up to date.
The goal was to raise enough funds to be able to purchase new books for the children’s department at the Newton County Library. The children created a goal of $500 and got to work.
Through the support of families and friends and lots of reading, the Lower Elementary Class raised $1,184.80 while reading a combined total of 3,246 pages.
