The Montessori School of Covington, which is now enrolling ages 3 through high school, will hold two open house sessions May 21.

Anyone interested in learning about the school or the Montessori method of education is invited. During the morning session, from 9 to 11 a.m., visitors can tour the school during regular hours and observe classroom activities. The evening session, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., also will include an informational meeting regarding the Georgia Cyber Academy at Montessori School of Covington, an addition for high-school level students beginning in the fall. Board members, faculty and parents will be available to answer questions during both drop-in sessions.

"Open House is an excellent opportunity for prospective families to visit our facility and become familiar with the Montessori method of education as well as our school family," Director Jane Moon said.

Developed more than 100 years ago, the Montessori method provides a hand-on approach to learning that values each student’s unique strengths, differences and educational needs.

With a curriculum of math, language, science, practical life, physical education, the arts, computer science and hands-on exploration, students also participate in extracurricular activities that encourage real-world application of learning, community service, leadership and peer mentoring.

The Montessori School of Covington is at located 4108 Summers St., in the Clark’s Grove neighborhood just off Clark Street. For more details, call 770-788-7779 or visit Montessori-Covington.org.
