Mansfield Elementary Pre-k classes have been learning about community helpers. They have had different community helpers including: a nurse, a dental hygienist, a K-9 deputy from Newton County Sheriff's Office, and a lineman from Snapping Shoals. On Monday, April 11, Bobby Fincher of Snapping Shoals came to the school and demonstrated the work of a lineman. He discussed the storm and power outages that took place last week. He demonstrated how the bucket truck operates and discussed how linemen help to restore power to the community.

Photo shown was taken by Bobby Fincher of Snapping Shoals. Students shown are from Mrs. Shannon and Mrs. Greene's & Mrs. Smallwood and Mrs. Herron's Pre K classes. Our Pre K classes would like to thank all of our community helpers that have visited our classrooms and all community helpers throughout Newton County. To finish our community helper unit, we will visit Fire Station #6, our local grocery store, Blackwell's, and the local Post Office in Mansfield.
